P1-102: Secondary Treatment Expansion System
Project Description
The Secondary Treatment Expansion System project will construct new federally mandated facilities at the OCSD Reclamation Plant located on Ellis Avenue in Fountain Valley. - Six circular clarifiers, and a
- New blower building
Project Status:
Construction began in 2007 and is currently ahead of schedule. The project is 75 percent complete and has an estimated completion date of Fall 2011. To date, crews have installed almost 49 miles of piles, 9 ½ miles of pipe, and have excavated 325,000 cubic yards of dirt, the equivalent to an NFL football field excavated 152 feet deep.
This project is required by the United States Environmental Protection Agency under a Federal Consent Decree requiring OCSD to meet secondary standards by 2012.
