Newport Trunk Sewer and Force Main Rehabilitation

Project Description

The Newport Trunk Sewer and Force Main Rehabilitation project will provide a new point of connection from the new Bitter Point Pump Station to convey wastewater from the cities of Newport Beach and Costa Mesa into OCSD’s Treatment Plant No. 2. The new force main will modify and update an existing system that traverses across oil fields and under the Santa Ana River. The aging existing system conflicts with facilities currently under construction at our plant. The new system will allow OCSD to address operational and maintenance requirements including the increased operating pressure from the new pump station.

Construction began in December 2008 and will last approximately 18 months.  Work will take place Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. with occasional Saturday work.
