Construction Starting in City of Newport Beach
Starting September 5, crews will begin construction at northbound Newport Boulevard, north of Pacific Coast Highway and head towards Hospital Road. Lane closures and detours will be in place. Shortly after the start date, there will be a temporary closure of the Newport/Old Newport Blvd transition ramp for approximately 3 months.
Construction hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. The ramp closure will remain in place 24 hours/7 days a week during this first phase. Dates and times are subject to change due to unforeseen operational factors or inclement weather.

Week of September 4 - Closure of Newport Blvd/Old Newport Blvd transition ramp during construction hours. Detour via Hospital Rd or Industrial Way.
Week of September 11 - Closure of Hospital Rd between Newport Blvd and Old Newport Blvd during construction hours. Detour via Newport Blvd/Old Newport Blvd ramp or Industrial Way.
Week of September 18 (tentative) - Temporary closure of the Newport Blvd/Old Newport Blvd transition ramp for approximately 3 months. See suggested detour map above.

The Newport Blvd. District 6 Trunk Sewer Relief construction project will replace an existing 60 years old regional sewer pipeline with a larger sewer pipeline to increase the sewer flow capacity and reduce the risk of spills. Construction will take place along Newport Blvd. between Pacific Coast Highway and Industrial Way in the City of Newport Beach and Pomona Ave and 17th St in the City of Costa Mesa.
