The existing regional sewers in this part of our service area are approximately 50 years old and in need of replacement. This project will focus on replacing portions of the sewer with larger diameter pipe to increase the capacity. Other segments of the pipe will be relined to simply extend the life of the pipe. Manholes will also be replaced and/or rehabilitated. This project will take place in the cities of Cypress, Los Alamitos, and La Palma. The work for this project starts on Katella Avenue heading west to Oak Street, heads north on Oak Street to Sausalito Street, east on Sausalito to Chestnut Street, north on Chestnut to Cerritos Avenue, east on Cerritos to Bloomfield Avenue, north on Bloomfield Avenue, east on Orange Avenue to Denni Avenue, and concludes at La Palma Avenue. These repairs will extend the life of the sewer pipes by another 50 years.
This project is part of the Western Regional Sewer Program that is replacing or rehabilitating over 20 miles of sewer in six cities and an unincorporated part of the County of Orange.
Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2022 and conclude in late 2024.
